Recent and Upcoming Events

We are not currently holding regular meetings, but do get together on an informal basis.  I have stopped having regular meetings due to the fact that we have had such poor attendance for speakers that have donated their time....including plastic surgeons, ENTs, speech pathologists, etc.  I would love to have meetings again, but can't ask special speakers to drive such long distances to share with us when we don't have a consistent number of people able to attend every month.

I also have become very busy running my own business, staying home with my three children and other personal commitments.  However, I still do meet with families, teach at the colleges every semester, assist with feeding, make arm restraints and do alot of the one-on-one support I've always done, as well as work on the website.

If you are interested in helping get our meetings going again and have the time to commit to organizing speakers, marketing upcoming events, scheduling fundraisers, etc., I'd love to visit with you!

I'm always making arm restraints for infants/toddlers going through lip/palate surgeries!!  Hip-hip-hooray!  If you'd like to help out with this task...I have a list of materials I could use!
  • Sew-on white 1 1/2 inch velcro (hook & loop)
  • Any really cute cotton fabrics for boys or girls!  I don't use much at a time, so even the quilting samplers are enough!
  • Crib batting (it's the perfect width for making restraints, and is about the right thickness)

Let me know if you'd like to help out with this project, or if you have a pair of arm restraints you'd like to donate to the FOCUS pantry.  When a family needs a pair of restraints, we send them out as needed.  Then, when the family is done with them, they send them back to the group so another family can use them.  If you have used a set of restraints from the FOCUS group in the past and forgotten to send them back...please do!!  We need them desperately!  I'm mostly in need of Small and Medium size restraints!  Thanks much!
